“Jude, it’s no good if you’re picky.”

Jude, who was arguing with food that she didn't like, finally took a bite of soybean dish to Rachel's caring gesture, who showed no sign of backing down. The frown on the forehead resembled Ethan. Rachel smiled slightly at such a child, and when she put one of her daughter's favorite foods on her plate, the child quickly swallowed the bean and concentrated on the meal while smiling.

Ethan watched the two of them from a distance like a bystander, silently concentrating on the meal. The light taste that reached the tip of his tongue was more realistic. After all, isn't this just a dream? Ethan slowly began to resign.

‘The future me...... In the end, he seemed to have succeeded in his father's footsteps as head of the family.'

The long table was all about himself, Rachel, and their little child. Judging from the fact that he was seated at the top of the table naturally, he seemed to have become the head of a full-fledged family. Ethan smiled bitterly as he could not erase the bitterness of the future, probably because he was expecting something different, but he did not feel a deep disappointment other than his thoughts.

“Look at my mind. I forgot to write a letter to my father and mother!”

Rachel opened her mouth and remembered her parents as they had stepped back from the responsibilities of being the head of the family, and spent their old years leisurely on the estate.

“...... If it’s your letter, the two might be waiting for it.”

Was it an arranged marriage?

Ethan peeked at Rachel's figure. The reason why the relationship between the two continued was due to the strong friendship between the two families, which began with their parents' generation. Naturally, the friendship was handed over to Rachel and Ethan, and each other's parents regarded both children as their own.

‘It’s strange. They had never specifically marked Rachel as a future daughter-in-law.'

Ethan wondered why he had married Rachel. Both of them must have had nothing to do with finding a good marriage partner, but how did they end up like this?

“Really, Ethan. Haven't you been very busy with work lately? The paperwork has been piled up like a mountain since last week.”

"Ah...... Yes, it was.”

Towards the end of the meal, Ethan suddenly nodded his head in response to Rachel's sudden question.

“It must be a busy time. Go to work first. Jude will be taken care of by the nanny and I.”

"Okay. Thanks, Rachel.”

“Then let’s have tea together later.”

A friendly conversation ensued between the two. He still couldn't believe what had happened to him. Ethan was fine anywhere, so he needed time to think calmly and alone. At Rachel's untimely consideration, he agreed and got up from his seat like a loving husband.

“Papa?”

“It looks like she’s going to cry because dad is leaving. Ethan, say bye to Jude too.”

Ethan, who couldn’t even eat his favorite potato salad looked at the child with difficulty. He couldn’t believe that it was so hard to play even a small role of a father. He wanted to avoid his situation as it was, but if he did, she would probably burst into a sad cry in that small body, so he gently stroked her round head with a clumsy gesture and left, gently comforting her to listen to her mother.
