How to Extend a Marriage Contract - Chapter 11
How to Extend a Marriage Contract - Chapter 11
“Ahh…!”
As soon as Emily woke up from sleep, she buried her face in her pillow and stamped her feet. While outside, and in a cabin where anyone could come and go, they had sex like animals.. It was not something she could do with a sober mind! Thinking about it again, she felt like she was going to die of embarrassment.
But more than that, she was resentful of Kyle. How dare he stripped her naked! That wasn’t all. He even wildly touched her body to warm her body from the rain!
However, what was more resentful was herself who responded to his indifferent gestures.
'But Kyle... his dick was also upright?’
Emily's face, buried in her pillow, grew more and more red. The feel of his pulsating penis could be clearly remembered. A huge object that she couldn't even hold in her hand. It gave her a pleasant feeling that filled her stomach. A pained voice escaped Emily's mouth.
"Ahh….”
Feeling lost for some reason, Emily burst into tears.
Still, she quickly became energetic as usual. She will one day embarrass him even more. Emily clenched her fists and vowed.
But how would she manage to tear down that iron-walled man? Kyle was open-minded in his words and actions, but neither made mistakes nor was he ashamed of her past. It would be more difficult for her to embarrass him than to pick a star in the sky.
A proud smile suddenly appeared on Emily's face, who had been thinking seriously. He had a big weakness, a great weakness which could let her make up a mistake that he never made!
~
Emily's feet stopped in front of a portrait. Kyle looked back at Emily and immediately turned to the painting.
The portrait was drawn when the two were married. Emily's eyes turned to the portrait where she sat on the long sofa and was leaning against Kyle's shoulder. Compared to Kyle, her appearance looked embarrassed. Emily once again vowed to pull herself together and go out shamelessly with confidence.
“You probably don’t remember.”
Emily smiled faintly and looked at Kyle. He looked at the portrait and then turned his head towards Emily. Emily spoke slowly, as if she were reminiscing about the past.
"You asked to meet with me alone before you even got my parents' permission. You knelt down in front of me and begged me to marry you because you fell in love at first sight. Now it’s only a memory I remember."
His face, which had always been stiff, was subtly relaxed. Did he feel sorry for her? But if he listened to her, he should be embarrassed to death?
Emily took a inhaled a big breath and tried to look as lonely as possible.
“You came to see me steadfastly despite my father’s opposition.”
“I guess the former Count Lampard was against us.”
“…….”
Emily's stiff shoulders shrugged slightly. Thinking back on it, Emily's father had no reason to object. And she didn’t know what Kyle’s parents thought.
How dare the duke's son, who even owned an estate, want to marry the count's daughter. That too with a young lady who was reputed to be a flirtatious girl in the social world.
In addition, even the Duchess of Wade, who was Emily’s principal, did not oppose her and Kyle's marriage. The Duchess of Wade would know best about how often she caused absurd incidents during her school days. Why?
No, now was not the time to think about these things. If the conversation went on for a long time, she was sure to make a mistake. Emily spoke quickly.
"You came to me every night and sang a song by a minstrel that was popular at the time."
It was a proposal that she had dreamed of when she was very young. It was creepy just to hear it now, though.
Now it was his turn to be embarrassed! The corners of Emily's lips twitched. How would this person react when embarrassed? Emily couldn't hide her expectations. She stared as he slowly opened his mouth to speak.
“Did you choose me because you liked that?”
But Kyle's face didn't change. His voice was calm. Emily was rather embarrassed by his attitude.
"What?"
Kyle's eyes glistened strangely.
“You said that your father was opposed to me. I wondered why you still chose me out of the many men."
“Many men…? Ah….”
Was he talking about the men who came to visit after they heard rumors that Count Lampard was looking for a son-in-law? How did he know? Did the butler tell him? Emily's lips twitched.
"That… that was….”
Did he already see through her lies? When Emily's father heard that Kyle was the son of Duke Wade, he agreed to the couple on the spot. On the other hand, Emily was rather reluctant to know that he was the principal's son. The Duchess might have told him all the things she has done!
Truthfully, out of all the guys who had come, Emily likes Kyle the most as he was handsome and had a voice that was nice to listen to. They would have to see each other every day, and if it was possible, wouldn't it be better to marry someone with a decent personality and a handsome face?
As well as the contents of the marriage contract, she also liked his request for a marriage contract. She liked his light and disciplined first impression.
Emily had a gorgeous appearance and, thanks to her bad classmates whom she had bad relations with, she had bad rumors attached to her where people thought that she didn’t stop men who came onto her and that she wouldn’t stop them from leaving either. (TN: basically that she’s an easy girl that guys can have casual sex with). Because of that, she hated any man who clung to her.
‘But I can’t say that…!'
Emily painfully grinned.
“Yes, you expressed your love for me, even if you risked losing face.”
Thinking about it again, such a proposal would be a great inconvenience. Not only would it be noisy, but if a man like that came every night and screamingly serenaded so that they could hear him all the way to the terrace, there was not doubt that his chances of marrying her would be completely blocked.
"I see."
However, Kyle ended the conversation bluntly. There was no embarrassment on his cold face.
Seeing that, Emily was even more embarrassed. The corners of Emily's lips, which had been twitching, went slowly down.
“Is that all…?”
“Yes, I can’t remember.”
Emily squeezed the hem of her skirt as she watched Kyle lead her into the study room.
Ooh, he’s so annoying! It's a pity that she can't hit the back of his head. She could say that it was for shock therapy to treat memory loss later, and hit him on the head. However, Emily now had no choice but to follow him into the study, crumpling her innocent dress.
As Emily just squeezed her dress, Kyle pulled out the letterbox from the drawer. Although he lost his memory, he had immediately noticed where it was. He was no ordinary man.
Today, according to the doctor's advice, the two decided to read together the letters the two of them had sent to each other in the past.
“The two of you were so close that you two would send and receive letters even if you were only a separated for a week.”
Unfortunately, it wasn’t because the two were on good terms that they sent each other letters frequently. Kyle had to tell her about the wounds suffered on the battlefield by the the Lampard knights, who would one day become Emily's vassals, and what they had done. Emily had to tell him about what she had done for him while he was absent as the Count.
“…….”
It was more of a report than a letter. The only difference from a report was that at the beginning of the report, they asked and answered questions about each other's well-being. To be honest, even that was only close to a formality.
It was a letter that could not be regarded as a letter sent between a couple with good relations. As the number of letters that Kyle had read increased one by one, Emily's face grew red with embarrassment. Eventually, she opened her mouth.
“This was… a busy time both of us, and... because someone else might read it... I only wrote the bare minimum.....”
“I’m sure it was.”
But this time again, Kyle had a nonchalant expression on his face. Rather, he seemed to be even less interested tight now compared to when Emily had brought up the story of the proposal. He skimmed through the letters and turned them over.
Emily, who was next to him, was the only one who was nervous. She hoped that this didn’t really bring back his memories. If his memories came back, Emily would be very troubled. In addition to the many mistakes she made the other day.
Her mouth was dry. Emily looked into Kyle's eyes and asked carefully.
"Do you… remember anything?”
“Nothing.”
She didn't know that his firm answer would make her feel so relaxed. Emily sighed in relief involuntarily.
Fortunately for Emily, the exercise was done without much progress. The two compiled the reports in the form of letters they had sent to each other for three years.
This should have been simple. However, as Emily was organizing the letters, she found an unopened letter.
The envelope had the name 'Kyle Wade' written on it. Not only that, it was sealed with the seal of the House of Wade. It was a letter Kyle had written before their marriage and never sent. However, the name of the recipient was not written on it, so it was impossible to tell if it was really a letter. Emily handed it to Kyle.
“I think it’s yours.”
Kyle stared at it, not tearing it apart. Then he handed the letter back to Emily.
"If it's a letter I wrote before we got married and brought it here, it was probably meant to be delivered to you."
It was clear this his expression wanted her to open it now. But Emily hesitated. If it was a letter he was really trying to send to me, it might contain information about the marriage contract.
The two did not write the contents of their contract, which was close to a kind of fraud, in case anyone else would find out about it. But she never knew what happened before the contract. Kyle may have tried to offer the marriage contract in a letter before coming to see Emily.
What if it really was written about the marriage contract? Should she pretend to not know what it means? Maybe seeing this letter brings back Kyle's memories.
But there was no way to avoid the situation right away. Emily opened the letter with trembling hands.
Fortunately, the letter did not contain any information about the marriage contract. A single sentence was written in the middle of a wide piece of paper.
I love you.
“…….”
Such a straightforward confession. Emily lost her words and she stared intently at it.
Kyle alternated to look at the letter and her, and opened his mouth to the silent Emily.
“I think I was trying to convey that message to you.”
"Yes…, it seems so.”
Emily forced a smile and put it in her letterbox.
Of course, this letter was not intended for her.
Perhaps the it was for Georgia Mason.
Emily lowered her head and bit her lip so that Kyle couldn't see her. Her head throbbed when she remembered the woman whom she had a bad relationship with since her school days.
