How to Extend a Marriage Contract - Chapter 15
How to Extend a Marriage Contract - Chapter 15
"Be back safely."
It was Kyle's first day going to work since he lost her memory. As the symbol of Woburn Kingdom, the commander of the Holy Knights, if rumors spread that he suffered from amnesia, confusion could come to the whole kingdom, so that fact had to be kept secret. Because of this, Kyle could not rest for a while and returned to work.
She heard that Jake was a good assistant by his side, but was it really okay? Emily looked at Kyle, who came out of in simple armor, with worried eyes. Kyle looked at her like that and clicked his tongue.
“Don’t worry too much.”
“You’ll be fine on your own, so why would I worry?”
Emily, who was irritable for nothing, answered curtly, and then realized her tone. She showed this side of herself to him again.. Strangely, in front of Kyle, she was constantly being immature. She wanted to look good in front of him in contrast to everyone else….
“Yes, I will be fine.”
“…….”
Kyle lightly took in Emily’s rebuke and smirked. If it was Kyle from the past, he would never have done so. And Emily knew very well why he had changed so much.
He pulled her waist in. And he kissed her lips briefly. Even at that brief touch, her whole body became numb, starting from her lips.
Even after his lips fell, he didn't let her go right away. His face with a gentle smile caught her eye.
“I will come early today.”
"Okay….”
Kyle did not hide his regret of being separated from his wife while riding the horse. He looked back at Emily several times and smiled when their eyes met. Even Emily, who had never dated a man, could see that his kindness was not due to his obligation as a husband to his wife.
Emily wanted her and Kyle to be a couple just like this. That's why she went into his room late at night wearing a naughty lingerie and went hunting with him....
But now she was left with a bitter aftertaste. As Kyle disappeared from her sight, the smile on Emily's lips disappeared.
Now that all of that had been accomplished, she couldn’t get rid of the guilt that she was deceiving him. What will Kyle say to her when he got his memory back? It was hard for Emily to even think about Kyle looking at her with her cold eyes.
She was crushed by anxiety. At some point, Emily started to feel no fun in anything. Her heart was choked with anxiety when she chatted her best friend Rebecca without reserve, when she read her favorite book, and even when she mixed herself with the beloved Kyle. And that afternoon, the anxiety became reality.
“It’s been a while, Lady Lampard.”
Her gorgeous blonde hair was much more like her own hair than Emily had remembered. Emily barely met the pale blue eyes that made her feel as if she was looking in a mirror.
“… Lady Mason.”
Unlike Emily, who was very intimidated, Georgia only looked confident.
“I’m here to see Kyle.”
She naturally referred to him as Kyle, instead of Count Lampard or Sir Lampard. But this situation was much better than Emily's previously thought worst-case scenario. Emily made a nonchalant look with all her might.
“My husband went to work. If you have any business with him, I'll relay it to him. Please speak."
Hearing those words, Georgia raises one corner of her lips. It was unbearably disturbing. Emily put down the teacup in her hand quickly. The rattling sound was different from the usual. She clasped her trembling hands.
“I had a strange feeling, so I couldn’t stay at home.”
“What do you mean, what happened?"
All sorts of ominous speculations came to mind. Emily comforted herself and pretended to be fine because they were all speculations.
“He always stopped by me right after the monster subjugation was over.”
But there was no response to that answer. She opened her mouth to say something, but she couldn’t say anything.
Georgia, on the other hand, was able to speak quite well. Georgia looked at the frozen Emily with an exaggerated look of surprise.
“Oh my, you didn’t know? We are dating.”
“…….”
Emily's pretty face turned white. Georgia tried not to laugh too broadly. She took a sip of tea to calm her mind a little. And she continued yo speak instead of Emily, who was still speechless.
“It’s nothing unusual.”
What do you mean, nothing strange? Going out with a married man? How can you be so brazen?
The moment Emily floundered in confusion, Georgia spit out a terrible thing she had never even imagined.
“I think I have a child.”
Her heart sank.
Lie. It must be a lie. Kyle couldn't have done that. He was not that kind of person.
Even if he didn't love her, there was no way he'd have sex with a woman who wasn't his wife.
But why would she tell a lie that could he debunked quickly?
But she couldn't help feeling like she was going to faint. She couldn’t breathe well. Her vision got darker and darker.
"I don't intend to sit in this house. I'm just here because I thought I'd let my child's dad know. Of course, madam. Please pass it on to him."
Georgia left those words and lively got up from her seat. Emily blankly stared at Georgia's teacup, then woke up to the sound of the parlor door opening. She quickly got up from her seat and grabbed Georgia.
Georgia meekly stopped on the spot. She looked at Emily with a relaxed smile on her face.
Emily's lips trembled. Then her voice came out. Even though she knew that it would only hurt her if she talked more now.
"When… Since when…?”
“From the beginning.”
Georgia's big eyes curved beautifully.
“Kyle married you because of his mother. You know?”
“……..!”
How did she even know this? Did Kyle really have an affair with Georgia?
In an instant, her eyes went black. Then… now she would be….
"My Lord."
Through the open door, one of the maids called Emily. Somehow, she noticed the unusual atmosphere and hesitated to speak, and only continued when Emily nodded.
“The Count is here.”
“……!”
She felt cold sweat running down her back. Emily swallowed dry saliva. Instead of Emily, who licked her lips, not knowing what to do, Georgia opened her mouth.
“That's good, just in time. Wouldn't it be better for me to tell him directly?"
“…….”
She thought she should say something to her right away, so she opened her mouth, but her voice didn't come out. Anyway, even if Georgia was kicked out of here now, the truth would come out one day.
She didn't know that the marriage contract would end so quickly and so horribly. Her legs lost their strength.
"My Lord!"
A maid supported her staggering Emily. She sat her down on the sofa in the parlor and looked at her complexion.
“My Lord, shall I call the doctor?”
Emily shook her head towards the maid, who asked her carefully. Meanwhile, Georgia, who was sitting opposite her Emily, talked to the maid maid.
“Tell the Count that Georgia Mason is here.”
The maid looked at Emily again. Something about Emily felt strange. But Emily didn't respond to Georgia's words. She just sat and leaned on the sofa as she stared blankly at the mug. In the end, the impatient Georgia got nervous.
“Why are you dithering about? Tell him that I'm waiting in the parlor!"
The maid had to leave the room. The parlor room door closed, and after a moment of silence, Georgia opened her mouth.
“Emily, you have changed a lot. Was it that shocking?”
This time she was speechless because of the ridiculous situation. Georgia smiled bitterly at Emily, who burst out laughing in vain laughter.
"You think you're the protagonist of the tragedy, but it's the opposite."
“… you think everyone in the world thinks just like you, but I’m not like you.”
“Yeah, of course you have to speak like this since you’re Emily Lampard.”
“Why are you so proud of yourself after committing an affair?”
Emily forced herself to look at her. While she wasn’t completely innocent of her own sins, but right now, she wasn’t the one to be ashamed. And the other party seemed to know that. Georgia's face contorted. But she still spoke loudly.
“Who stole Kyle first?!”
“First? I've never heard of Kyle ever talking about you!"
She only started wondering after seeing Kyle's letter, but she didn't even think about it until recently. Kyle didn't even say anything about having a girlfriend.
But Emily was not proud of everything she did either. She felt guilty, at least for what she did to Kyle.
“I knocked, but there was no answer.”
“…….”
To the surprise of Emily, Kyle was right in front of Emily and Georgia. Anxiety spread again on Emily's face.
When Kyle saw this, he went straight to Emily and touched her cheek. His eyes and gestures clearly showed his worry.
“Emily, you look unwell.”
“…….”
