Delicious Sacrifice - Chapter 17

Delicious Sacrifice - Chapter 17

“Are you crazy?! You’re really crazy!”

Jack was persistent. No matter how small he was, he was still a man. Even though Miela tried to shake him off with all her might, Jack’s grip was stronger.

“Even if I don’t go back, Serian will come get me. We’ll all die when that happens!”

“No, he won’t come get you.”

“He will come get me no matter what! I’m Serian’s. Do you think Serian would give up what’s his?!”

There was not a single bit of doubt in Miela’s scream.

Jack, on the other hand, was shaken by that conviction. He became anxious even though he had left a letter to keep the monster from chasing them. What if the monster blindly followed Miela, regardless of the letter? His life would be already over.

Then wouldn’t sending Miela back be a way to increase his chances of survival even a little? No. He was already dead the moment he brought Miela out. In that case, it might be better to run a little further and find a way to survive.

As Jack’s worries shook his head, his hands lost strength. Miela didn’t miss the gap and pushed Jack with her whole body.

“Ugh!”

Jack’s body rolled on the floor. Miela hurriedly ran to the door. She felt frustrated because her body running towards the door wasn’t as fast as her mind.

She opened the door with all her strength with both arms. A bright light pierced her eyes.

Miela’s body, which was running outside, bumped into something.

“Ugh!”

“What the, why are you so noisy? You said you brought her in secret. Huh? What is this?”

There was more than one person who bumped into Miela.

It was the village youth. Even when they lived in the village, she tried her best to avoid running into them. They were a group that would pick fights with Miela when she passed by and would often swear at her.

“Wow, Miela, it’s been a while? What’s up? You must have been eating well and doing well. You’ve gotten prettier.”

The playful teasing that they enjoyed among themselves continued. Miela almost instinctively shrank back and stepped back. She hated even their gazes. The insidious gazes made her shiver.

“Look at this outfit? A total lady. You said she was in a monster’s castle. I guess the monster has a better personality than I thought.”

The gang’s hands brushed the fluffy frills. The gang’s eyes became even more sinister at the soft texture that fluttered from their fingertips. If even the hem of the clothes was this soft, how smooth must the skin be? That’s what the eyes said.

Miela glared fiercely, but she walked backwards. The gang’s steps toward Miela were threatening. Everyone was laughing and praising her, but the atmosphere became even more tense.

She retreated as they approached, and before she knew it, she was cornered. When her back touched the wall, her sense of crisis surged.

Now, no matter how hard she threatened, it was meaningless. It was clear that she was the one who was cornered, and that they were the ones who were pushing her.

Miela, who had nowhere else to retreat, made her last threat. However, from her position, who was already cornered, it was nothing more than a pitiful plea.

“Don’t, don’t come near me.”

“What did we do? It is nice to see your face after such a long time, so we’re just saying hello.”

“Then say hello from over there.”

“Ha, Miela, you’ve gotten even more prickly. Hey, a girl needs to be a little more pleasant.”

“Hey, don’t you know the fun of breaking something and eating it?”

Now, they were revealing their intentions blatantly. Miela opened her eyes wide. She had to run away right away. But she was blocked on all sides.

“W-what are you talking about?”

Stupid Jack.

If they were going to help them easily, he should have suspected the price.

Foolish Jack probably thought the gang would only help the two escape. They could definitely get out of the village. The bodies that were killed and discarded would have to be left outside the village.

It was a dangerous situation where she could actually die. These gangsters would harass and kill animals when they were bored. It wouldn’t be difficult for them to kill one of them, who had  already been sacrificed and was known to be dead.

Miela’s head turned red. She couldn’t run away, and she couldn’t avoid it. But she didn’t want to just take it.

What was Serian doing? If he had clearly heard the sound, he should have come running right away. Why was he leaving her alone in this situation?

Was he angry because she left the castle? Was he abandoning her?

“Hey, grab her leg!”

The men’s grip was rough. Since their purpose was clear, they didn’t hesitate.

“Ack! No!”

“St-stop!”

“Hey, Jack. But since you were the one who had your eye on her the most, you should go first? We should share what needs to be shared. Thanks to you, we will be able to taste her.”

Jack also lost his mind at the giggling gangsters’ words.

“Oh, no! Miela and me, me!”

“Yeah, we said we’ll let you do it once too? You once, us once. Just right?”

“No! Don’t do that!”

The gang surrounded Miela, pushing away Jack who was just repeatedly yelling stupid words. Miela crouched as small as possible and looked up at them with a venomous look.

There was no way out of her head, but her body instinctively felt around.

“!”

Something that was hidden behind her skirt caught her fingertips. It was something like a long stick.

She pretended to grab her skirt and grabbed the stick. It was quite heavy. Even if she fought properly, she would have no chance of winning, but if she knocked out just one guy when he let his guard down, she would have an opening for escape.

She didn’t have enough time to brace herself. Unlike good hide and seekers, the gang didn’t count to ten and rushed at her. They grabbed Miela’s dress before she could even take a breath.

“Don’t, don’t!”

Miela gathered all her strength and swung the stick. What she thought was a stick was actually an axe. The heavy iron, loaded with weight and speed, hit the head of the person who was holding Miela's dress.

Boom!

The sound of a watermelon bursting rang out.

Miela watched the person collapse without even making a sound and pulled herself together.

She couldn't miss the moment when the gang members were shocked by what had happened so quickly.

She swung the axe in all directions and stepped over the fallen body.

"Uh, uh!"

The gang members instinctively dodged the axe and backed away. Miela ran blindly toward the half-open door.

Just as she was about to grab the doorknob, her body suddenly stopped when a hand grabbed her hair from behind.

"Ah!"

No matter how fast she was, she was wearing that dazzling dress, and there was a limit to how fast she could be. She couldn't let herself be caught and suffer a hard time like this. She instinctively knew that it wouldn't end with just one hit.

If that happens, not only will she get hurt, but maybe even the baby in her stomach……

Miela swung the axe without looking back. With a dull impact, her freedom returned. However, it was not easy to shake off the gang that started to rush at her again.

The gang’s hands seemed to be approaching her more and more slowly. The shock slowed down the clock and everything seemed to be in slow motion. Her body moved twice as slowly as their hands.

“Miela!”

Jack shouted and rushed once. It was not towards Miela, but the gang.

It was too much for him to handle alone, but he was able to stop them from rushing at her by randomly hanging on and blocking with his whole body. In the meantime, Miela ran blindly.

Why Jack? I have to live. I have to run. To the forest. Back to the forest. I’m scared. Save me. Protect me.

Tens of thousands of thoughts raced through her mind. In the meantime, her legs were running as fast as they could.

The villagers must have all gone out to work, because she didn’t see anyone while she ran toward the forest. There was no place to hide. The only thing she could do was run blindly toward the forest.

“Hey, over there!”

A crashing sound was heard behind her, and a rough shout grabbed her neck.

It seemed like Jack alone wasn’t enough.

The forest was getting closer before her eyes. Behind her back, there were footsteps approaching even faster.

She threw down the axe because she was tired from running. She was completely bare-handed. She would be caught again at this rate.

The rough hands came closer as if it was going to scratch her back. No thoughts entered her head. All that came to mind was the monster in her white head.

Please, please. You said you could hear every corner of the village. Then listen to my voice too. Right now……!

“Serian! Serian, save me! Serian!”

She struggled with her whole body and shouted with all her might.

She thought that if it was her voice, he could hear also hear the screams from her heart. He said that her scent was so clear that he could follow her wherever she was.

Her body fell to the grass.

The gang’s vicious hands rushed at her. Hands that slapped her face, hands that twisted her arms to subdue her, hands that tore her dress, hands that grabbed her legs apart.

It was the end.

She shut her eyes tightly. She would rather die. She braced her whole body for the terrible moment to come.

“……?”

“…… Ugh, keuk!”

Even after waiting for a long time, there was no rough feeling on her body. Instead, she heard a small groan that sounded like someone’s throat was being strangled.

Miela opened her eyes hesitantly.

“Uh……!”

Instead of the bloodshot eyes rushing toward her, she saw a field of blood-covered grass. There was blood everywhere.

She could quickly tell where the blood came from by looking at the pieces of flesh scattered on the ground.

Only then did she recognize the smell of blood that was suddenly coming.
