Dreams of the Holy Knight - Chapter 14

Dreams of the Holy Knight - Chapter 14

Noel had the illusion that blood from his body was draining out.  The woman in his dream was squatting in front of the Viscount’s maid.  The light green eyes which he had encountered seemed to stick in his mind. The woman he saw in his dream was real? And she was Saint Liliana?

His hands trembled as there was no way to hide his agitation. However, her reaction was different from the woman in his dream, as she was not pleased when she saw him and instead looked surprised.

Noel reached out to her, trying to clarify the boundaries between reality and dreams.

“……  Are you lady Armand?”

"Yes?  Yes."

Liliana was startled when Noel spoke to her.  The face she used to draw up was in front of her and moreover, she couldn’t register that he was talking to her.  She almost mistook for a moment that this was a dream.  Why was he asking about her...…?

“But, but why……?”

Perhaps because of what she experienced with Count Alphonse, her vigilance had increased, and her eyes that looked at Noel was full of anxiety.  Noel explained his reason for searching for her, barely suppressing his crazy thoughts of her wanting to tightly hug her.

“An oracle came down that a saint would appear in the Armand family. As you know, the only woman in the Viscount’s household is you, my lady.”

"What?  A saint?”

“The Holy Father will tell you the details.  I shall first take you to the.”

“My lady, let’s go to the temple.  This is not the time.  You are the Saintess”

It seemed as if her head was full of swarms of buzzing flies.  She could not hear Noel and Betty's urgings in this preposterous situation.

Oracle?  I am a saint?  Could it be that the strange light that blew away Ian was her holy power?  No, was she able to attack people with her powers?  That made no sense.  There must have been some misunderstanding.

Betty, not willing to see Liliana sitting in a daze, struggled to get her to stand up, and then almost dragged her away.

Betty brushed Liliana’s dirty clothes and said in an upset voice.

“Why are your clothes such a mess? What happened?  Are you okay?”

"What?  Oh……  I’m okay."

A saint?  Me?  Did she have holy powers?  Could it be that she was possessed by the devil?  Black magic.  It wasn’t black magic, was it?  Was she to be burned at the stake?

Negative thoughts kept piling up.  However, the greatest evidence that the light was holy power stood before get. Noel Klein, commander of the Holy Knights.  If she had been possessed by the devil, there was no way he would not have recognized it.  And there was no malice in his piercing eyes that looked at her.

‘But why does he keep looking at me……?  Making my heart flutter...….'

As Betty dragged her along, the temple carriage stood on the boulevard.  Noel came up to her and held out his arm.

“I’ll help you get on the carriage.”

"Ah…… Thank you."

She couldn't even put on her gloves in his sudden situation.  His palm, touching her bare skin, was bigger and hotter than she expected.  As she climbed into the carriage and took her seat, he released her hand and followed her in.

She was sad to let go of Noel's hand, so she took her two hands and fidgeted with her fingers.

By the way, was he riding the carriage with her?  His eyes staring intently at her were both thrilling and burdensome.  Why was he looking at her like that?  This must have been the first time he saw her, but his gaze looked like he was seeing someone he has been longing for...….  Perhaps, was it because he had been longing for the Saintess? If he was a faithful holy knight, that seemed right.

Liliana couldn't find a place to look at because he was looking at her thoroughly. If she had any more eye contact with him, she thought she would confess her feelings without realizing it.

It was clear that her face was getting hotter.  She closed her eyes tightly and then opened them, trying to ventilate the atmosphere.

“Excuse me, but what happened to my maid?”

“I sent her back to the Viscount.  If you need her, I'll call her back again."

“Oh, no!  I’m okay."

With the desire to be alone with her, it was Noel who had deliberately sent Betty back to the Viscount, asking her to simply pack the Saint's luggage. Liliana, completely unaware of the fact, glanced at his face and repeatedly bowed her head again. Noel, who was looking at her, opened his mouth with a worried face.

“By any chance, did something happened?”

"Excuse me?"

“It looked like you were crying.”

Did he care about her?  Or was he telling her to keep her dignity as a Saint?

The latter was more credible, as it was the first time he had seen her. She hastily wiped away her face, which must have been stained with tears.

“It was nothing.  I’m okay!"

“If you have any problems, please let me know.  The safety of the Saintess will be my top priority.”

"Ah yes.  Thank you."

If she was a real saint, yes.  But Liliana still seemed to think that the oracle and everything was a lie.  If she went to the temple, she would know exactly what happened.  In any case, it was fortunate to have moved away from Count Alphonse.

She was a little relieved to think that she would be safe from Ian for now. As her body, which had been tense the entire time, relaxed, fatigue set in. She blinked and soon fell into a light slumber.

Noel, who was watching her, clenched his pitiful fists, trying to resist the desire to lay her in his own arms and put her to sleep comfortably.

No matter how he look at it, it seemed like she had cried a lot. And as soon as she got into the carriage, as if some tension had been released, she feel asleep.  Something bad must have unmistakably happened.

Noel chewed on his lips, forgetting that it was the first time he had met this woman. Who dare...…  Perhaps that bastard named Count Alphonse?  He harbored animosity toward the Count, whom he had never met before, and soon remembered that he and Liliana were to get married.

A dark shadow fell on Noel's face.
