Dreams of the Holy Knight - Chapter 16
Dreams of the Holy Knight - Chapter 16
The next day, the birds chirped loudly in the morning. She opened her eyes, dazzled by the sunlight coming through the window. When she got out of the bath water, white clothes were neatly laid out. It was a saint's uniform provided by the temple.
Unlike the priest's uniform, it was engraved with a splendid golden pattern, and the soft fabric fluttered with a sacred atmosphere every time she took a step.
“Isn’t this a little burdensome?”
When she came out dressed for the first time in these clothes in a hurry, Jenna knocked on the door to bring her a meal.
Liliana asked Jenna to write to Viscount Armand. It was a letter expressing the intention of break the marriage process. She didn’t write that Ian had deceived her, but she was confident that her parents would have no choice but to listen to her as long as she was a saint.
As expected, the reply came quickly. It was a reply that they would soon send a letter stating the cancellation of any further marriage talks to Count Alphonse. She folded the letter back and sighed.
'To think that breaking marriage talks was this easy...….'
She couldn't hide her dispirited smile. Priestess Jenna, who had come to deliver the reply letter, briefly outlined the future schedule to her.
“You must be tired from this unexpected situation, so until today, I have received message from the Holy Father for you to peacefully rest. When the return of the Saintess is announced soon, the Emperor will also have to attend, and you will have to hold a Mass on the upcoming All Saints’ Day!”
“Um, other than sealing the gates of the demon realm, what exactly does a Saintess do?”
“Sealing the gates of the Demon Realm is the biggest and most important duty, but, um. First of all, you have to attend important events like the Founding Day and All Saints’ Day, and you have to go to the temple regularly to take care of the sick. There is a healing priest, but by showing the mighty power of the Saintess, it has the effect of confirming the mercy of the Goddess to the people.”
"Oh…… Is that all?”
"Yes! Probably because Saintess has fewer restrictions on her movement than the priests. In fact, you have no one to stop you even if you don’t stay in the temple. I hope the saint stays here!”
Jenna's eyes lit up brightly as she answered. It seemed that she had a huge illusion about her...…. She thought that Saints had to stay in the temple, but that didn't seem to be the case. But, in such a luxurious and comfortable room, did any saint dare to live in another place?
“I want to stay here forever. I really like it.”
Hearing her answer, Jenna rejoiced as she clasped her hands. Was it that good for her to stay in the same space as the saint?
“I'm glad you like this place! I want the Saint to stay here for a long time. Although there is nothing I can do if you get married.”
“I get married? Even though I am a Saintess?”
"Of course. When the first Saint, Saint Adelaide became a saint, she already had a partner, right? The Third Saint, Saint Agnes almost became the Crown Princess.”
When she thought about it, that was true. Adelaide, whom Jenna spoke of, was her own ancestor. All of the Armand ancestors that have came since so far were all the descendants of Saint Adelaide. Her light green eyes darkened, as she was reminded of what she had forgotten.
‘Then there is a possibility that I will become a victim of the marriage business.’
She was able to break off marriage talks with Ian, but she was worried about the future. However, if she was a Saintess and safely sealed the gates of the demon realm, she would be able to have a powerful voice. Liliana tried to think positively. At least she wasn’t marrying Count Alphonse.
"Thank you for letting me know. Jenna.”
"You're welcome. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me! Then rest well, Saintess!”
Liliana laid flat on the bed as soon as Jenna left the room. She was told to rest, so she should rest. After lying and rolling around and eating lunch in her room, she felt like she was being bred for some reason. Grabbing her chubby belly and not thinking of getting out of her bed, she fell deeply asleep again after a long time of comfortable rest.
It was late in the afternoon and she was tired of lying around. She picked up a random book in the office and began to skim through it. It was by a librarian with arguments about biblical interpretation. Se felt like she would fall asleep again because of the boring content.
Then there was a knock on the door. Liliana, who had been half asleep, muttered as she yawned.
“Yawn…… Come on in!"
Rubbing her eyes as she walked towards the door, she woke up. His twinkling blue eyes were staring at her.
It was Noel Klein who opened the door and entered.
"Oh…… why is the knight commander here...…?”
“Didn’t I say that I would teach you how to control your holy powers?”
“Oh, are we starting today?”
“I came to see you because it seemed like it would be better to learn quickly. But, if it makes you uncomfortable.”
“Oh, no! it's okay. It’s good to learn quickly.”
His eyes softened as he heard her words. Why was he smiling so prettily since yesterday? With a smile on his fatally handsome face, it was hard to come to her senses.
“Then excuse me.”
Noel strode into her room and beckoned to her. Liliana, who sat on the sofa, closed her eyes and concentrated on his advice to close her eyes and feel her holy powers.
Noel looked at her with her eyes closed. It was so lovely that she listened to his own words. Moreover, her figure in the robe was so beautiful and sacred that he seemed to not notice the passing of time by just staring at her all day.
“I think I can feel it a little bit. But how do I?”
“Think of it pushing that force little by little. Imagine making a path slowly down to your fingertips and help the light move little by little along the path.”
She imagined making a path from her heart to her fingertips, as Noel explained. It wasn't as easy as she thought it would, to move the majestic mass of light little by little. She felt cramped at the holy power moving slowly little by little. It would be cool and nice if it popped out all at once like when I opened my eyes yesterday...….
'Should I just move it all at once?'
But it was also not easy to transfer power at once. She frowned and tried to release the force that was stuck near her heart, and at one point she felt light burst out of her body. When she opened her eyes, a bright light filled the office, and Noel was looking at me with an ecstatic expression.
"Wow! I think I did it!”
“Good job. Saintess.”
Looking at Noel, who was smiling at her, she was filled with joy, but she suddenly grabbed her chest at the feeling of suffocation. Noel's expression hardened horribly when he saw her face turning pale.
“Heut…….”
“What, what is it? Where are you uncomfortable?”
“My chest.”
As soon as Noel approached Lilliana, who was stumbling, to support her, she fainted and collapsed.
Unable to hide his devastation, he carried her in a panic, but then was able to come to his senses. He had already been told by the Pope that something like this could happen.
Noel took her to her bedroom, laid her on her back and pulled the rope, and Jenna came in. Soon after, Jenna brought high priest, Miella, who blew her powers into the sleeping Liliana. After examining her body for a while, Miella sighed in relief.
“If she rests well, she will wake up soon. According to the literature, it is said that the saints in the past have had this happen at least once.”
“What is the reason?”
“It seems to be a side effect of having too much holy power. I know that it is something that happens in the process of manifesting one’s holy power.”
"Ha."
Noel let out a sigh of relief at that moment. Miella carefully covered Liliana with her blanket and looked at Noel.
“I will stay by her side until the Saintess wakes up.”
"No. This happened because of me, so I think it would be right for me to be with the Saintess.”
“Sir Klein?”
At Noel's answer, Miella put on a puzzled expression. But, seeing his determined expression, she didn't think it would be easy to convince him otherwise. Perhaps, the Saintess...…? Miella, who had her doubts, shook her head inwardly. Considering the Sir Klein she had seen so far, it was an absurd assumption. He was probably doing it out of guilt.
“Then please do so, Sir Klein.”
"Yes."
